The right of access to information

The right of access to information and the reuse of information is realized in accordance with the Right of Access to Information Act (Official Gazette 25/2013).

The aim of the Act is to enable and ensure the realization of the right of access to information guaranteed under the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and the re-use of information to natural and legal persons through transparency and public operation of the public government authorities.

The right of access to information is based on the principles of public and free access, timeliness, completeness and accuracy of information, the principle of equality, the principle of disposal of information and, in accordance with Article 5, paragraph 1, item 5 of the Act "covers the right of customers to seek and obtain information, as well as the obligation of the public authority to provide access to the requested information or to disclose information irrespective of the request made when such disclosure arises out of an obligation prescribed by law or another regulation."

In the sense of the said Act (Article 5, paragraph 1, item 3), information is "any data in possession by a public authority in the form of a document, record, file, register or any other form, irrespective of the manner in which it is presented (written, drawn, printed, recorded, magnetic, optical, electronic or any other record)."

Requesting access to information

A request for access to information is submitted to the information officer:

  • personally on location: Monday 'til Friday from 8:00 - 15:00

According to Article 18 of the Right of Access to Information Act, a request for access to information shall contain the following: 
  • name and headquarters of the public authority to which the request is made,
  • information relevant to the identification of the requested information,
  • name, surname and address of the natural person-applicant, company or title of the legal person and its headquarters.
The applicant's access to the information will be provided at the latest within 15 days of the submission of the request.
